"Sherlock Holmes" is an upcoming film based on Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. The film will star Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, and Jude Law as Watson. The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie.

Warner Bros. has released an official plot summary:

Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country."

Sherlock Holmes Trailer:

I have no doubt in my mind that this movie is gonna be really good. Robert Downey Jr. is arguably the hottest actor out there today. This trailer in my opinion looks awesome! I think that the movie will have just enough action and comedy to satisfy the audience! I will definitely be there on opening day to go see this!!

Star Trek Beams Up $7 Million On Opening Night!!

J.J Abrams's adaptation of Star Trek has opened to big numbers on its opening night. According to our sources, the film took in about $7 million beating out last year's Iron Man at $4 million, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine's $5 million. Many have been skeptical about this film saying that they wold be lucky if they passed $100 million after this weekend. Iron Man brought in about $102.1 million after its weekend, so it looks like Star Trek is off to a good start.

I just wanna say that I have never really been a Star Trek fan, and have always considered the franchise to be boring, but this film has definitely won me over! J.J Abrams in my opinion is really a man of vision, and is probably one of the hottest writers/producers/directors of Hollywood today. What he did with this film is simply amazing. The casting was spot on, the plot of the film was great, and the whole look of the film was just mind-blowing. My favorites have got to be Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. These guys definitely delivered on their iconic roles. Abrams and his team have definitely delivered a true Star Trek film that'll not only satisfy the "Trekkies", but at the same time, appeal to those who weren't fans of the franchise. I gotta admit, when I saw the trailer for this I was like, "damn, I think I wanna go see this." And even today, I still have a hangover from the film. Many reviewers have even said that Star Trek has got to be the "best prequel ever!" I think Abrams has successfully repositioned the franchise with fans roaring for a sequel already. Star Trek is definitely a contender for this year's hottest summer film in my opinion.

Green Lantern To Film In September.

It looks like DC is finally getting off their asses and actually do something to finally bitch slapping they've been receiving from Marvel.

Reports are now coming in that Warner Bros. is scheduled to start filming The Green Lantern in mid-September in Australia.

Martin Campbell (Edge of Darkness) is attached to helm the film. The targeted release date is December 17th, 2010.

The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

I'm glad to see that DC is finally starting to realize that they've actually got an army of superheroes they can use. DC films don't always have to be Superman and Batman. They've got The Flash, they've got Wonder Woman, and they've got Aquaman. All these characters have very strong selling power if you ask me. Marvel has recently gotten their shit together and are finally now giving fans some quality shit to satisfy their inner-geeks! Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were the shit if you ask me! BUT, DC has managed to retaliate every now and then. They delivered the record-breaking film, The Dark Knight, and as well as the very successful Watchmen film. I'm glad Warner Bros has put The Green Lantern on the fast track! He's a character that I've always thought was cool! Though, I wonder who they've casted for the film. I find it a little odd that they haven't released those details.

Movie News

Hello thy dear readers! sorry for the long absence and lack of update, but our day jobs have been quite hectic, along with me getting SOOOPER sick outta the blue. Curse you Caesar salad & Sisig! Anyways, onto some news...

What's my movie news without something about my favorite cartoon of all time, The Transformers?! So here we go, first up, seems like Transformers 3, yes "3," has been given a July 1 , 2011 release date! But sorry fanboys, this is no confirmation, no inked actors and writers, and no hint that the 3rd is already in production. Seems like Dreamworks just decided to call DIBS! There are a lot of Superhero movies coming out in the next few years, Thor, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Spiderman 4 and hopefully a new Batman & Superman, so its also a good move on Dreamworks part to scare those other movies away. Its Transformers! So you better recognize!

Speaking of Spiderman, the 4th installment has also received its release date of May 6, 2011. In an interview with director Sam Raimi, he said that right now, they are in the early stages of working with the writers and trying to work out a story. They are also choosing a villan or villans that Spiderman will battle it out with, which will come from the comic book universe. It was also confirmed that the 5th film is NOT being filmed at the same time as the 4th, like previous reports have indicated. With regards Dunst returning as the character of Mary Jane, Raimi said, "I’m hoping she'll be in it and I'm planning on having a story with her in it... It wouldn't be the Spider-Man series without her." Err... it wouldn't be Spiderman without Toby Maguire you tool! Screw Dusnt, they should actually get a good looking girl!

Lastly, seems like a Johnny Quest movie is going to be in the works. For those who don't know him, shame shame! It is also still in its early stages of writing and it seems like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be starring in it as bodyguard/friend/govt agent Race Bannon opposite Zac Efron as Johnny Quest. Again, its still really early so nothing is even inked. As much as I hate Zac Efron and how gay he is, I can actually picture him playing Johnny. So this for me is pretty interesting... and i've always been a fan of The Rock!

Thats all for now... but here are some of the release dates for the upcoming Marvel movies. Looks like we'll have one every year! SWEET!

Iron Man 2 - May 7, 2010
Thor - June 17, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America - July 22, 2011
The Avengers - May 4, 2012

Johansson & Rourke Confirmed For Iron Man 2

E! Online has recently confirmed that actress Scarlett Johansson has officially signed on to play The Black Widow in the upcoming sequel, Iron Man 2.

Her rep Marcel Marseau was quoted saying, "Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man."

That's not all, Deadline Hollywood Daily has also confirmed that Mickey Rourke is also on board to play a villain named, Whiplash. This villain will take elements from Russian villain, The Crimson Dynamo.

It was also reported that the studio had offered Rourke a lousy 250k for the role, so he was forced to decline. But Rourke's agent, David Unger was reported to have been able to increase the fee at a significant amount therefore giving us our second villain for the film.

Reports are also saying that Rourke was also considered for the role of the villain in the upcoming Spider-Man film.

All I can say is Thank God!! I think Mickey Rourke will be awesome as the villain!! I applaud FOX for coming to their senses. And as for the casting of Scarlett, I'm still on the fence on this one. I think Emily Blunt was actually a good choice. Scarlett, to me, she's a little overrated.

First Iron Man 2 Set Photo!!

Iron Man 2 director, Jon Favreau has released the very first set photo of himself and cinematographer, Matthew Libatique on the set of Tony Stark's house, which is clearly under construction.

While we're talking about Iron Man 2, I'd like to discuss the topic of the problems they had with casting. A few months ago, we posted about the casting of villains, Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell, as well as Emily Blunt as The Black Widow. The rumors surfaced how Rourke was unhappy with the salary he was being offered, and that Emily Blunt was gonna be replaced by none other than Scarlett Johansson. Internet buzz went crazy over this, with speculations connecting all the way back to the re-casting of Terence Howard's character, Rhodey. Are these actors really being underpaid? Well, the good news is that some light has been shed over the matter!

Jon Favreau was interviewed during Oscars night, and he said that Fox has decided to exercise their option to cast Emily Blunt in their upcoming film, Gullivers Travels, therefore making her unavailable for Iron Man 2.

With regards to Mickey Rourke, he was quoted saying, "he isn't officially cast but that he is a fan."

Robert Downey Jr. also said that producers are still hard at work at casting Rourke as a villain. He was quoted saying, "they are slaving away for a hot script" for Iron Man 2.

Now could all these sudden cast changes affect the film? Probably not. But if you ask me, I think that they should definitely cast Mickey Rourke. Rourke, who successfully pulled off the biggest comeback in history, is definitely a hot ticket now....and I can totally see this dude playing a bad-ass villain!! And as for the role of Black Canary, I'm really just either/or on that matter. I mean, both actresses are fine as hell, and I'm sure both would do a great job! Hey, as long as you got Downey Jr putting on the suit, then I'm a happy camper.

Samuel L. Jackson To Play Nick Fury

It was reported a few months ago that Samuel L. Jackson had decided to not play Nick Fury in the upcoming sequel, Iron Man 2, due to some conflict with Marvel Entertainment. Now however, reports are coming in that they have buried the hatchet, and that Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise his role in Iron Man 2, and possibly many more!

According to our sources, Jackson is set to play Fury, the leader of the organization S.H.I.E.L.D., with a long-term deal he had made with Marvel. Hip deal is an option to play the character in nine future Marvel films including, The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers, as well as a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and its sequels.

Jackson was first introduced as Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 2, when he asks Tony Stark to join the team.

This is definitely a bold move on Jackson's part. I mean, damn, 9 movies?? If all goes well with these upcoming films, Jackson could be playing this character for a really, really, REALLY long time!! I certainly hope he got paid a good sum for this. But, I am happy that Jackson and Marvel have found their common ground. I mean, nobody else could've played this character except for Jackson. I mean, shit, the character is modeled after the actor!! It would've been a crime to cast someone else. I'm curious to see how Nick Fury will add to the story for Iron Man 2. Will we see more Avengers foreshadowing?? Who knows, who knows.....

So What Exactly Is His Role??

As some of you may or may not remember, VANTAGE reported to you guys that actor Mickey Rourke was set to play The Crimson Dynamo for the upcoming sequel, Iron Man 2. According to our sources, and Robert Downey Jr. himself, this may not be 100% accurate.

Downey Jr. was quoted saying, ""That's actually incorrect," Downey told MTV News when asked if Rourke was being considered for the aforementioned Iron Man rogue. When pressed if, instead of Crimson Dynamo, Rourke was up for the role of Whiplash, another potential role bandied about on blogs these days, Downey had a more cryptic response."

"I can neither confirm nor deny that," said Downey. "Or maybe it's some semblance of both. Here, I can tell you everything about the story except I won't give away the ending. The nerd stuff is top-drawer security."

So the true identity of the villainous role of Mickey Rourke is somehwat still a mystery. Stay tuned to VANTAGE as we will keep you posted, and update you guys as soon as we hear anything new!

More Iron Man 2 Casting News

Hey Readers. Today VANTAGE gives you guys even more casting news from the anticipated sequel, Iron Man 2.

Variety is now reporting that Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) is in talks to join the feature film. She is currently up for the role of Natasha Romanoff.

Natasha Romanoff is a Soviet super spy who's alter ego is the Black Widow, a femme fatale who sports a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry.

If the role does go to Emily, she will be joining Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and the recently announced villains, Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell.

Iron Man 2 is set to go into production this spring with the hopes for a May 7, 2010 release date.

With all these casting news appearing online, I can't help but get a little excited. I mean, the casting of Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell is just awesome! I think that they're absolutely perfect for the roles! And now this! I think that it's an excellent idea to bring in the Black Widow! I'm sure that the Iron Man fans out there will appreciate that! I myself am not a huge Iron Man fan so I only really have a vague idea of the Black Widow character, but I'm guessing a love triangle will be played out in the film.

Rourke And Rockwell For Iron Man 2 Villains

Iron Man 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the monster hit Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. The movie is currently in production, and the question on everyone's mind is, who will the villains be this time around?

9 1/2 Weeks star, Mickey Rourke is in talks to play a Russian character named Ivan, who becomes a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils. Variety reports that his character will ultimately become The Crimson Dynamo. He is considered to be the "evil version" of Iron Man because he battles Iron Man with a nuclear powered armor.

Charlie's Angels star, Sam Rockwell is also in talks to play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman who is the rival of Tony Stark.

Rourke and Rockwell could join an already star-studded cast of Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle, who is replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey.

This movie definitely sounds like it's gonna be packed with more action than the original. Two villains? Sounds bad ass, I just hope that they don't lose focus of the story cuz the story is what makes the movie. CGI is just the cherry on top. I do however, love the fact that they're featuring The Crimson Dynamo. The fight scenes between the two should be very exciting.

The Avengers Movie Confirmed.....

"This Is So Going In My Blog,"

Marvel's dream team, The Avengers could finally be hitting theatres soon!! According to sources, Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle have both signed on to appear in the next installment of the Iron Man franchise, as well as The Avengers movie coming in 2011. Iron Man director Jon Favreau has also signed on to produce the film.

The Avengers is an all star team that consists of heroes like Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and many more. The Avengers constanly changes, so there's no saying who Marvel plans to use for the film. The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier also said that The Hulk will be making an appearance in the film, but did not confirm Edward Norton's participation.

I know for a fact that when this movie comes out, it'll be a monster at the box office. Just to see a movie with such star wattage would already be pretty cool. I mean, who ever thought that we would ever get to see a movie like this? To see all these superheroes in one film is going to be awesome! There are literally no words to decribe it! So to all the comic book fans out there, I say, 2011 is the year to look forward to!

However, I am still a self-proclaimed DC fan, and I urge DC to get up off their asses and do something cuz Marvel is leaving them behind.

Nuff' said.......

Don Cheadle To Play War Machine!

"This Is So Going In My Blog,"

According to our sources, actor, Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) is set to replace Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2. Howard played Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Tony Stark's best friend, and future War Machine.

The reasons for the replacement have been unclear so far, but some are saying that Howard fell through due to financial differences, among other reasons of course.

Marvel, who had long wanted to work with Cheadle, decided to take the role in a different direction and approach Cheadle, who is currently filming, Brooklyn's Finest.

Iron Man 2 is set to be released on May 7, 2010. Jon Favreau will return as director, Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts.

I'm a little uneasy with this sudden replacement honestly. I thought Terrence Howard was an excellent choice for the role, and that he really nailed it. I'm not realy sure a out this move by Marvel. However, I do think that Don Cheadle is a great actor, and could possibly bring something new to the character.

Bang & Olufsen Beosound 5

"This Is So Going In My Blog,"

Bang & Olufsen is a Danish company that manufacures high end audio products. We all know that these guys take their jobs seriously and they release quality products. They're always coming out with something new for their customers. Whether it's for our home theater system, or just accessories for our everyday use, these guys are definitely on top of things.

This time around, they release a controller to control our home thearter system. This new tech is called, "Beosound 5." With this controller, you'll be able to view album covers of your music, and it'll feature a relatively complex menu. There have been no word yet whether we would be able to use this to control our iTunes libraray, or if it's limited to just B&O products. But for those considering tech like this, I'm pretty sure this won't be too much of a hassle for you guys.

B&O products are usually considered cutting-edge, and this is no different. I mean, look at this thing. It almost looks like one of Tony Stark's gadgets from Iron Man. Anyways, I would totally pick up something like this for my home theater....If I were rich of course.

Scene & Heard: Comic Book Exhibit

"This Is So Going In My Blog,"

I was walking around Podium last night and saw this art exhibit they were having. It was basically an exhibit on comic book characters. Being a huge comic book fan, I went over and decided to check it out! They had different paintings of different characters up for sale! Pirces ranged from P50,000 and up!

I thought the paintings looked awesome! Some of em were just alright, but most were great! I thought the Spider-Man painting was great! These would definitely look great in a comic book fan's room....definitely!! If you guys are interested, you should definitely visit Podium and check it out!

Here are some pics:

Marvel VS. DC?! FIGHT!

Despite “The Dark Knight’s” praise from critics and summer moviegoers, Robert Downey Jr. admits he hated the film.

“My whole thing is that that I saw ‘The Dark Knight,’” Robert said in an interview with Movie Hole. “I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved 'The Prestige' but didn't understand 'The Dark Knight'. Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character…”

Downey is currently starring in "Tropic Thunder," which knocked "Dark Knight" out of the top spot at this week's box office. He blames "Knight's" “highbrow” script for ruining the film, although he may be biased. The actor clearly has a favorite in the age-old Marvel vs. DC comic book debate.

“I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high-brow and so f---ing smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie,'” the actor ranted before adding, “You know what? F--- DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from.”

I found Iron Man a surprise... it was freakin good! But The Dark Knight for me, blew it outta the water!

How bout you guys?! Which do you prefer, Marvel or DC?! Comment!
