Fringe

"This Is So Going In My Blog,"

Fringe is a sicience fiction TV series co-created by J.J Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Robert Orci. It premiered on September 9th, 2008 on FOX. It stars John Noble (24) as Walter Bishop, Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek) as Peter Bishop, and newcomer, Anna Torv as FBI Agent, Olivia Dunham. The 2-hour series premiere cost about $10 million to make, makiing it the most expensive pilot ever shot.

The show revolves around FBI Agent, Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop, and Peter Bishop as they go around the world to investigate the aspects of fringe science (e.g., a newborn baby aging to 80 in a matter of minutes). A series of experiments all over the world have been occurring which people refer to as "The Pattern." The reasons for this are still unknown. Connected to "The Pattern" is a company called, Massive Dynamic, a company who holds numerous patents for a large number of new technology. Dunham, and both Bishops are in charge of investigating these strange events, and to determine the source of "The Pattern."

Fringe Trailer:

This show has definitely been gaining a lot of buzz since its release, with more and more audiences tuning in every week. Could it be because of the "J.J Abrams" factor? I think so. This guys is awesome when it comes to awesome story-telling. Fringe has garnered positive reviews from critics, with some calling it, "an update of X-Files, with the addition of terrorism and the office of Homeland security."

When this show was first announced, I was definitely very curious about it. Maybe cuz of the fact that I'm a huge Lost fan. J.J Abrams has given us one of the biggest shows in history, and I wanted to see if he could do it a second time. The show definiftely had an X-Files vibe to it, and they manage to keep the 2 hour premiere interesting. I'm excited to see where they take it from here.

Star Trek Beams Up $7 Million On Opening Night!!

J.J Abrams's adaptation of Star Trek has opened to big numbers on its opening night. According to our sources, the film took in about $7 million beating out last year's Iron Man at $4 million, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine's $5 million. Many have been skeptical about this film saying that they wold be lucky if they passed $100 million after this weekend. Iron Man brought in about $102.1 million after its weekend, so it looks like Star Trek is off to a good start.

I just wanna say that I have never really been a Star Trek fan, and have always considered the franchise to be boring, but this film has definitely won me over! J.J Abrams in my opinion is really a man of vision, and is probably one of the hottest writers/producers/directors of Hollywood today. What he did with this film is simply amazing. The casting was spot on, the plot of the film was great, and the whole look of the film was just mind-blowing. My favorites have got to be Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. These guys definitely delivered on their iconic roles. Abrams and his team have definitely delivered a true Star Trek film that'll not only satisfy the "Trekkies", but at the same time, appeal to those who weren't fans of the franchise. I gotta admit, when I saw the trailer for this I was like, "damn, I think I wanna go see this." And even today, I still have a hangover from the film. Many reviewers have even said that Star Trek has got to be the "best prequel ever!" I think Abrams has successfully repositioned the franchise with fans roaring for a sequel already. Star Trek is definitely a contender for this year's hottest summer film in my opinion.

Fringe Episodes For Download!!

Some of you may remember, last year I posted about a new J.J Abrams TV show called Fringe. The show basically revolves around an eccentric scientist named Walter Bishop, his son, Peter Bishop, and FBI Agent Olivia Dunham. Together they investigate different aspects of fringe science, such as levitation, reanimation, teleportation, nano technology, and artificial intelligence.

The pilot episode for Fringe cost about $10 million to produce, making it the most expensive pilot ever shot!

I gotta say, when I first downloaded and watched the pilot for this show, I was like, "nah, not my kind of thing." A part of me felt like it was too boring, and that it probably wouldn't do well, but as I watched on, the stories became less boring, and more interesting, and within days, I was hooked! Fringe easily became my guilty pleasure for this summer!! For those who are fans of sci-fi, this is the show for you!! Fringe is a combination of CSI, X-Files, and The Twilight Zone! If I haven't convinced you already, then watch it for J.J Abrams, the man behind Lost, and this year's Star Trek! Abrams and his team definitely give us a new show that will revive the sci-fi genre in the small screens!

Star Trek: Will You watch It?

Listen up Trekkies!! Get ready to be beamed up yet again as director J.J Abrams and Paramount Pictures gears up to reboot the iconic Star Trek saga! This film will bring back all the original characters of the franchise with Chris Pine (Just My Luck) as James T. Kirk, and Zachary Quinto (Heroes) as Spock. The film will be written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman of Transformers. The movie is set to be released next summer on May 2009.

The Plot:

Little has been said about the plot of the movie except that it will definitely be a new vision of the saga, but will contain elements of their favorite novels. The movie will feature a younger, and bolder crew who boldly go where no man has gone before.

Star Trek Trailer:

Bottom Line:

I have never been a trekkie, I've tried to watch the show and movies, but never got into it I gues. I was more of a Star wars kinda guy. But what interests me with this film is definitely J.J Abrams (Mission Impossible 3). This guys definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to his projects. I'm definitely curious to see how his take on this iconic franchise will play out.

Chris Hemsworth Cast As Thor....

K, for those who don't know who Chris Hemsworth is, he played George Kirk in this year's summer hit, Star Trek.

According to our sources, Hemsworth has entered final negotiations to play the lead role in Marvel Studios' upcoming film, Thor. Marvel will be releasing an official statement soon, so stay tuned for that.

Hemsworth was supposedly spotted by a scouting agent in Australia and dragged him to Los Angeles to read for the part. Casting agents at first rejected him early on, but as soon as he his audition was put on tape, the casting agents started singing very different tunes. It was reported that Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) turned down the role, and Hemsworth beat out other candidates such as, Kevin McKidd (Rome), and Triple H (WWE).

Marvel supposedly wanted to finish the casting this month. The film has reportedly been pushed back from July 16, 2010 to March 20, 2011.

All I can say is, "thank god they didn't go with Triple H!!!" I am a big, huge fan of J.J Abrams' Star Trek, and I though Chris Hemsworth did absolutely great as George Kirk. Sure he only had minutes on screen, but that first scene was one of my favorite scenes in the movie! I think he would be great as Thor. I mean, just grow his hair and give him a beard, then voila, Thor!! And I got no doubt he's got the acting chops to play the role!
