Watchmen: Will You Go See It?

Watchmen is the film adaptation of the highly successful graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and David Gibbons. The movie will be directed by Zack Snyder, and will star Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, Stephen McHattie and Carla Gugino. The movie is produced by Lloyd Levin, Deborah Snyder, and Lawrence Gordon, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. and Paramont Pictures. The movie is released March 6, 2009.

The Plot:

The story will be set in an alternate 1985 where superheroes exist, Nixon is still President, and the feud bewtween the United States and the Soviet Union are at its peak. A vigilante named Rorschach investigates the murder of a hero named, The Comedian. While investigating, Rorschach uncovers a plot to discredit and murder more heroes. He also begins to unravel a conspiracy that involves his colleagues' pasts, and which could change the course of history forever.

Bottom Line:

Honestly, I'm still not 100% sold on this film just yet. I know that the graphic novel was really popular, and that its got a huge fan base. But as I watch the trailer, I don't feel the need to see it asap! Maybe you have to be a fan of the novel to really appreciate the trailers. BUT, I do consider myself to be a DC fan, so I will probably head to the theaters and check this out. Who knows, I might just end up enjoying the film, and eventually become a fan of The Watchmen. Let's wait and see....

"True Story"

Toy Fair 2009!!

As some of you may not know, the annual Toy Fair has already began in New York City. The scheduled dates ran from Feb. 15th to Feb. 18th.

Some of the action figures that were displayed were very beautiful and exquisite. A toy collector's dream if you ask me. Some of the figures that made appearances were a few of the DC characters, some Street Fighter characters, Terminator characters, and of course, The Watchmen had to make their appearance.

I myself am a pretty big toy collector. I mean, I'm not a fanatic like some, but I have been known to buy a few figures from time to time. My choice of figures of course are Superman figures. If you guys haven;t figured it out yet, I'm a pretty big fan....and that may even be an understatement. Anyways, I think that these toy conventions are very cool. It really gives these collectors the chance to appreciate some of the figures that they may not have. I'll tell you guys right now, if I ever had the chance to attend one of these things, I can guarantee that I'd be there!

Green Lantern To Film In September.

It looks like DC is finally getting off their asses and actually do something to finally bitch slapping they've been receiving from Marvel.

Reports are now coming in that Warner Bros. is scheduled to start filming The Green Lantern in mid-September in Australia.

Martin Campbell (Edge of Darkness) is attached to helm the film. The targeted release date is December 17th, 2010.

The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

I'm glad to see that DC is finally starting to realize that they've actually got an army of superheroes they can use. DC films don't always have to be Superman and Batman. They've got The Flash, they've got Wonder Woman, and they've got Aquaman. All these characters have very strong selling power if you ask me. Marvel has recently gotten their shit together and are finally now giving fans some quality shit to satisfy their inner-geeks! Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were the shit if you ask me! BUT, DC has managed to retaliate every now and then. They delivered the record-breaking film, The Dark Knight, and as well as the very successful Watchmen film. I'm glad Warner Bros has put The Green Lantern on the fast track! He's a character that I've always thought was cool! Though, I wonder who they've casted for the film. I find it a little odd that they haven't released those details.

Malin Akerman

Malin Åkerman has watched plenty of laid-back losers try to impress her with their cool. Smart women like her prefer a spark of curiosity. "It's like you have a zest for life," she says. Malin's Tips:
• Be patient: "If you think a girl looks beautiful, tell her," she says. "She will see that you're being real. Let your comment be the opener, and if it turns into a conversation, then ask to buy her a drink."

• Act naturally: "Charm comes from being yourself. And if you're goofy, then that's just who you are, and you'll find your match with someone who is like that, too."
