F1 Singapore Grand Prix: First Ever Night Race
Not only will this be on a city circuit (track is on city roads), the 2008 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix will be Formula 1's first ever night race! From my reckoning, aside from the Le Mans 24 hour race, its the first ever night only track in racing history, and its just right around the corner. Race weekend is from Sept. 26th-28th, which include testing on the 26th, qualifying on the 27th and race day on the 28th.
You can watch it LIVE on Star Sports @ 8pm, Saturday (qualifying) & Sunday (race day).
For an F1 fan like me, this is really exciting! Its the first of its kind, first in Asia! There are even talks that next season, there will be another track constructed in the Middle East, which will also be a night race.
For those more interested about the race, check out the vid I provided you guys. It should tell you more about the specifics and give you a lap around the new track. With quite a few overtaking opportunities, the Singapore Grand Prix looks to be much, much more than a glorified parade. Also with the championship on the line and the season drawing to a close, this beautiful track definitely deserves the attention.
