Fun Run & breakfast @ Sierra Madre
Just yesterday morning (Aug. 24), our EuroClub had a fun run to Marilaque (I have no idea where that is!) to have a simple breakfast at a lil place called Sierra Madre. We kicked things off early, meeting @ Shell on C5, beside SM Hypermart at 6am. After waiting for everyone to arrive and meeting the group, they set some simple rules like keeping our lights on, if you think the group-mate behind you is faster, let him pass, don't be pressured to push too hard if you cant keep the pace, mind the bikes etc... we were on our way by 7am. It was a pretty long drive (around 52kms), but it only took us an hour.

The road leading up there were surprisingly nice, after you get out of the city that is. Little did I know, we were actually going to tackle a mountain pass! For those out there who are into the drifting scene or the anime, "Initial D," it takes a page right outta that book. I wasn't able to take pictures on the drive up or down, because we were pushing our cars pretty hard and the roads demanded the driver's concentration. The scenery was beautiful though. The weather that morning was also great! Nice and cool, especially up top. For a good portion of the drive, it didn't feel like I was in the Philippines.

Like other mountain passes, it was just one lane going up, and one lane going down, coupled with blind corners, a lot of tight hairpins and a straight or two. It was a tough drive, keeping up with the other more experienced drivers, but I still kept in the middle of the pack. I really let off on the tight corners. Not knowing the roads and not wanting to kill my tires (I can't afford a new set right now haha!) or brakes, they were indeed much faster than me on the corners, though I held my own on the straights.

After arriving, someone took our orders (simple Filipino breakfasts like Tapa, Tocino, Corned beef etc...), and we just all chatted outside, enjoying the weather while others took pics. We all left at around 9am and the drive down, though still pretty quick, was less taxing.

In the end, it was fun, driving to those places I've never been, with a big group of cars convoyed. The company was great too, none of those a$$hole BMW drivers you always hear about. Everyone was very humble, very nice, and it was just a great atmosphere of people who share a love for cars.
