Sunday Retrospective

Ahh, computers have definitely come a LOOOONG way. The first ones I can remember were those old Apple computers we had (in public school in Canada) that had the black screens with green writing. This was even before Windows 3.1 for those who can remember. And look today how far we've come. 1 Gb of RAM is like nothing to us now, its a minimum requirement. 1 Tb hard disks for just over a hundred bucks. Free chat, music, information, movies and of course, pron (yes p-r-o-n)! You can buy a relatively good set-up for around P20k, but back in the day some may have cost $20k!

Step into my Delorian and check out what they had back in the 80's, when having a 55 pound computer was considered, portable.

IBM Portable PC (64k RAM) - 1975
Price: $19,975

Radio Shack TRS 80 Model II (64k RAM) - 1979
Price: $3,899

IBM 5120 with printer - 1980
Price: $9,340

Osborne 1 (32k RAM) - 1981
Price: $1,795

Apple III with monitor (128k RAM) - 1981
Price: $3,815

Dynabyt (64k RAM) - 1981
Price: $2,375

Otrona Attache (64k RAM) - 1982
Price: $3,995

Apple Lisa (1MB RAM) - 1983
Price: $9,995

IBM Portable PC 5155 (256k - 640k RAM)- 1984
Price: $4,225

Compaq Portable III (20mb hard disk space) - 1987
Price: $5,799

Crazy ain't it?! Just to give a quick run-down to those who don't know or arent sure about computer measurements, heres an estimate...

1TB = 1000GB
1GB = 1000MB
1MB = 1000KB
1KB = 1000b

Thats just from the top of my head. I know that measurements arent exactly in 1000 units (its like 1024 or something), so for any other mistakes, my bad!
