Roger Ebert Reviews Notorious......
When it comes to reviews for films from critics, there are definitely a few that I'd recommend, but only one that I completely trust, and that's Roger Ebert!! This cat definitely knows the ins and outs of the film industry, and what makes a good film.
He has recently reviewed one of the films I have been heavily anticipating since seeing its trailer last year, I'm talking about "Notorious" folks! The boipic that tells the life story of legendary rapper, Notorious B.I.G.!!
He has recently reviewed one of the films I have been heavily anticipating since seeing its trailer last year, I'm talking about "Notorious" folks! The boipic that tells the life story of legendary rapper, Notorious B.I.G.!!
Here are some highlights of the review:
'Notorious" is a good film in many ways, but its best achievement is the casting of Jamal Woolard, a rapper named Gravy, in the title role. He looks uncannily like the original, and Antonique Smith is a ringer for B.I.G.'s wife, rapper Faith Evans. Woolard already knew how to perform, but took voice lessons for six months at Juilliard to master B.I.G.'s sound.
He performs a lot of music in the film, all of it plot-driven, sure to become a best-selling soundtrack. As an actor, he conveys the singer's complex personality: a mother's boy, a womanizer, an artist who accepts career guidance from his managers, a sentimentalist, an ominous presence (Read the full interview here).
Reading this review definitely makes me wanna go and see this movie even more!! I mean for a famed-critic like Roger Ebert to give the film a 3.5 stars out of 4, you know that this movie's got some good shit in it! The movie is already out in The US, so if you haven't seen it, make sure you do. Unfortunately for us in Manila, we might have to wait a little longer for it to hit theaters, or at least wait for the fake DVD! Hahahaha!
What do you think? Comment!!
