Never Back Down: What Did You Think?

Hey guys, dont know if you've heard of this movie, im not even sure if its come out here in the PI yet (but you can probably grab it at MetroWalk haha!), but anyway, here it is, "Never Back Down."

For those who havent seen it, let me break it down for you... Troubled Teen (Sean Faris) carries on his shoulders the death of his drunk-driving father, and will take a swing at anyone who even brings up the subject. At his new school, he attracts the attention of Hot Babe (Amber Heard), otherwise known as the girlfriend of Mr. Popular (Cam Gigandet). Teen gets "known" from a Youtube video of him kickin someone's ass at his old school, thus getting dragged into the school's thriving underground fight club.

"To be the best, you have to take out the best." Which explains why Teen gets tricked into a fight with Mr. Popular, who then kicks Teen's ass HARDCORE (duhh!). Teen meets resident Loser & Wannabe (Evan Peters), who just so happens to train under Mixed Martial Arts Guru, Jean Roqua (Djimon Hounsou). Under Roqua's tough love, Teen unleashes his latent potential, and without spoiling the ending, well, u can just guess who he goes after...

For me, its not a bad movie, but its one those where when ur watchin it, u kinda know whats goin to happen and how its goin to end. But it definitely doesnt lack in good, in-your-face action! So if thats what you're after, then id suggest you watch this!!! The fight scenes are great and as the viewer, u can feel their pain through the choreography and camera angles/shots (especially with the Extended Beat Down Edition DVD). The soundtrack is great too! It has a good mix of rock, punk alternative and hip-hop, making sequences more hyped.

VERDICT:
In short, its entertaining, and the action scenes pack a punch. It doesnt pretend to be anything more than it is. Its bad that its good! If you're looking for a movie with a deep plot/story, then theres nothin here for ya except the ordinary.

This was my Vantage, let me know YOURS! Comment!
